How long do I need to chew vitamingum® FRESH or SMARTGUM® to get all the vitamins?

It will depend on how hard and how fast you like to chew gum, but the average person will release most of the vitamins within 5 – 10 minutes of chewing. The fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E along with Folic Acid and Pantothenic Acid (B5) will release into your saliva within one minute, because they’re in the candy coating.

SmartGum LLC commissioned a bioavailability study at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA to examine the effectiveness of chewing gum as a delivery vehicle to administer the various vitamin nutrients found in vitamingum® and SMARTGUM® products. Per the findings report: “The results of the study show that both water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins are released from the examined products during a typical chew time. Further chewing increased plasma levels of several water-soluble vitamins and fat-soluble vitamins. These results indicate that the gums can positively impact vitamin status, and may be useful in supplementing dietary sources of vitamins to insure sufficiency.”

What are the health benefits of the vitamins in vitamingum® and SMARTGUM® formulas?

Many studies have proven that vitamin supplementation is recommended to “fill in the gaps” where your food consumption lacks in full nutritional coverage. First and foremost, a balanced diet and proper exercise are the keys to healthy living, but most of the time our bodies can’t get everything we need from food consumption alone. Many nutritional experts agree that vitamin and mineral supplementation gives you an “advantage,” especially with today’s modern lifestyle of eating fast food, skipping meals and unbalanced diets.

Can you chew too many vitamingum® tablets in any one day?

NO YOU CANNOT. “Hypervitaminosis” is the condition where you have consumed too much of a certain nutrient and various side effects can occur. For example: With the essential vitamins in vitamingum® … you would have to chew SEVERAL THOUSAND TABLETS PER DAY over a period of several MONTHS in order to build up to a hyper state on the fat-soluble vitamins (water-soluble B Vitamins & Vitamin C are passed out in the urine on a daily basis). You will more likely get a very sore jaw from all the chewing or experience a laxative effect from all of the sorbitol consumed.

Will the sugar-free sorbitol in vitamingum® and SMARTGUM® cause me any problems?

Almost all sugar-free gums contain sorbitol as the bulking agent to make the gum complete along with the gum base and flavorings. Excessive chewing of any sugar-free gum with sorbitol has a laxative effect in some people. You just need to watch your intake level and avoid this side effect if it bothers you.

Are you the same people that made Vitaball® Vitamin Gumballs for Kids?

YES, we are the same company. Our original formula was a once-per-day multi-vitamin formula for children that was marketed and sold by another company who we gave a “license to sell.” Vitaball® Vitamin Gumballs for Kids are no longer on the market, but we are planning to reintroduce a similar product  … stay tuned.

Why chew vitamingum® FRESH over “regular” sugar-free chewing gum?

Most people chew gum because they want/need to freshen their breath after eating or when their mouth or tongue is dry. vitamingum® has a great breath-freshening quality with 3 traditional gum flavors:  peppermint, spearmint and cinnamon. But, vitamingum® gives you the added value of a boost of nutrition. Two products in one for about the same price.
